Description

Liu An Gua Pian is one of China’s most famous teas- it is distinctive in its appearance and flavor profile. The literal translation for Liu An Gua Pian is Liu An melon seed, its name is from the flat and oval shape of the dry tea leaf which resembles a melon seed!

Liu An Gua Pian is made in Anhui Province with a unique processing method. Most green teas are made from the young buds, yet Liu An Gua Pian is made of the second leaf on the branch. Each leaf's central vein is removed and the leaves are pan-fried and shaped to stop the oxidization process and dry the tea.

Once steeped, the highly aromatic leaf produces a lovely brilliant jade color liquor which is full, and smooth tasting with a lingering mouthfeel.

Like a combination of sencha umami with Chinese gunpowder. Very unique and drinkable!

very tasty, umami taste. I had the best brews Grandpa style. About 3 full glass brews at full flavor.
I was excited to taste one of Chinas particularly famous teas, and it was very nice.
However, the batch was about 50% broken leaves, which makes me suspicious of the quality, I'm going to try some more Lu'an gua pian from other suppliers and see if they are any higher quality
