Description

Gokujyo Uji Shincha Japanese is a first picking Uji tea; it is considered to be the most valuable and highest quality Uji tea. This tea is grown at Yuyadani in Ujitawara known for producing the highest grade Shincha. Its misty climate, sloping hills, warm days and cool nights create an ideal environment for producing distinctive aroma and excellent mellow flavor of high quality Shincha. Enjoy the superb harmony of refreshing aroma, flavor, and amazing taste of this special tea. The dry leaves smell wonderful, it is full of aromatic pure sweetness and grassy freshness. Once steeped, you will taste sweet umami, with a vegetal note. We highly recommend multiple infusions!

Bone dry. At no stage of steeping is this a sweet and easy green to drink. Some will like having a tea like this in their arsenal to choose from, but it's not for me.

This is a tough tea to dial in. Cups ranged from too subtle to too astringent. We only purchased the smallest bag, so we didn’t have enough chances to get it right.

It is the worst Gyokuro I had in my trial trip through Gyokuro offered by TeaLyra. I tried at least 5 others but I can't call this tea green tea or a variety of Gyokuro. Not sure I could bring myself to give it one more chance. Absolutely unpleasant beverage.
